Zendaya shows off a fashionable hummingbird on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet

Zendaya is adding a new feather to her cap as co-host of the Met Gala — and she’s doing it in feather-adorned haute couture.

After missing the event for the fourth straight year last year, the “Euphoria” actress returned to the prom’s star-studded red carpet on Monday in a lamé and organza Maison Margiela gown with hand-painted metallic accents, tiny hummingbirds and a satin bodice.

She styled her hair in a tousled updo and accessorized with a plume-like veil with feathers, which perfectly matched the 2024 theme of “Sleeping Beauty: Awakening Fashion” and the “garden of time” dress code for the night.

For a dramatic finish, she completed the look with dark eye shadow and scarlet lips created with makeup by beauty icon Pat McGrath, who created a similar viral look on Margiela’s recent runway.

The 27-year-old is one of four co-chairs of this year’s fashion-packed fest, alongside Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth and Bad Bunny, who arrived dressed in Schiaparelli Haute Couture, Tom Ford and Maison Margiela respectively.

She followed in the footsteps of the latter star (or should I say hooves?), choosing both Maison Margiela creations and Tabi footwear for this big night.

Zendaya was once again styled by her stylist Law Roach, who announced in 2023 that he was “retiring” from the industry; he later clarified that he would continue to work with Zendaya, his longest-standing and dearest client.

The actress didn’t walk the Met carpet with her boyfriend Tom Holland, who has never attended fashion’s biggest night, but was by her side – and the talk of the town – while promoting her latest film, “Challengers.”

The low-key couple met in 2016 while filming “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” but kept their relationship a secret for years. In July 2021, Page Six broke the news that the stars were dating after they were spotted kissing in a car.

Between her futuristic fashion-filled “Dune” press tour and her promotional duties for “Challengers,” Zendaya has had a busy few months as a tennis player-turned-coach caught up in a love triangle .

She honored the Luca Guadagnino-directed film with a month-long parade of tennis-inspired outfits, including a green Loewe gown with a tennis player graphic.

Other highlights included surreal Loewe pumps that pierced real tennis balls, a Thom Browne-designed take on Wimbledon whites, and a recreation of Carolina Herrera Venus and Serena Williams’ black-and-white gown and braids from a 1998 Vogue shoot.

She also got into the ‘Garden of Time’ spirit early on, heading to Anna Wintour’s pre-Met Gala dinner on Sunday in a sheer vintage Dior Couture gown embellished with tiny flowers – perhaps teasing the evening’s biggest moment.

Now her nature-inspired style has finally blossomed.
