Santas Episode 4: Storyline

Described as a sequel to The Santa Clause 3, the series follows Tim Allen’s character Scott Calvin as he grapples with the life-changing question of whether or not he should continue playing the role of Santa Clause. The plot will focus on Calvin as he searches for the person who will take on the role of Santa Claus and adjusts to everyday life with his wife, children and other family members. But despite Calvin’s joy at spending Christmas with his family, nothing goes according to plan and in order to save Christmas, Calvin is “pulled” out of retirement.

The following is a summary Disney has provided for fans of what to expect from the series:

“In the series, which will air on Disney+, the main character, Scott Calvin, approaches his 65th birthday and realizes he can’t play Santa Claus forever. His performance as Santa begins to suffer. Still, he has a family that would be better off living in the normal world, especially his two children who have lived their entire lives at the North Pole. It’s time for him to retire from his role as Santa Claus. With many elves, children and family members to feed, Scott embarked on a mission to find a suitable replacement for Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in life south of the Pole.”

The first film’s plot focused on Calvin’s transition into the role of Santa after he was responsible for the previous Santa’s death. In the sequels, we see Scott getting married, leading to the “Mrs. Clause Prophecy, and that Jack Frost subsequently tricks him into giving up his life as Santa, fulfilling the Escape Clause Prophecy. From today’s perspective, the miniseries seems to be the logical culmination of Scott’s performance as Santa Claus. While it’s difficult to successfully replace the protagonists of popular, long-standing brands, it could allow Disney to continue the franchise with a new main star to play Santa if the miniseries is successful.

On October 27, 2022, Disney+ made an official trailer available, giving viewers their first official glimpse of the excitement to come due to Santa’s retirement.

The Santa Clauses: Casts

Tim Allen returns to his role as Scott Calvin/Santa Claus, having previously starred in all three episodes of the film, as previously mentioned. When asked about his participation in the series in January, the actor tweeted, “Here we go again…HoHoHo!” Elizabeth Mitchell, who previously appeared in the second and third films, will also join Allen and her role as Carol Newman /Mrs. Klaus. Mitchell will work with Allen.

Elf Number 1 Alongside Eric Lloyd, David Krumholtz will also reprise his role as Santa’s son, Charlie Calvin, on the series. It would be fascinating to see how time has affected the actors who have resumed their roles given how much time has passed since the debut of the first two films in the series. Krumholtz sent the following message on Instagram to express his excitement at the prospect of reprising his previous role:

“I couldn’t be prouder to add another chapter to my career as Santa this fall in SANTA CLAUS, which will be available on Disney Plus. It will be perfect for you! I had a blast playing this character again and one of my favorite parts was when the hair team put on my wig for the first time. I enjoyed every minute of it. Turn on!”

Several other actors were added to the cast in addition to Allen and Mitchell. Kal Penn will join as Simon Choksi. When Penn’s character goes to the North Pole, everything changes for him. He used to aspire to be the next Jeff Bezos, but after his trip to the Arctic he has completely different goals. Interestingly, Simon Choksi shares the initials “SC” with Santa Claus and Scott Calvin.

Cast Nane:

  • The series marks the return of veteran actor and comedian Tim Allen in his role as Scott Calvin or Santa Claus. He will also reprise the role of Tony Santa, the antagonist from the second franchise film.
  • Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol Calvin / Mrs. Claus
  • Kal Penn as Simon Choksi, a game inventor, product developer, and single father who has ambitions to be the next Jeff Bezos
  • Eric Llyod as Scott’s only son from a previous marriage, Charlie Calvin
  • Austin Kane as sidekick “Cal” Calvin-Claus
  • Elizabeth Allen Dick as Sandra Calvin Claus
  • Matilda Lawler as Betty
  • Rupali Redd as Grace Choksi
  • Devin Bright as Noël
  • David Krumholtz as Bernard
  • Laura Sen Giacomo as the Christmas witch Befana.

This could be a hint that Choksi could succeed Calvin in the role of Santa Claus in the future. Matilda Lawler will join the cast in the role of Betty, Santa’s Chief of Staff. Betty is a demanding elf who puts her work above all else. Cal Calvin, played by Austin Kane, is the eldest son of Scott and Carol Calvin. Not particularly ambitious, he knows that the North Pole is not the key to achieving the things he wants to achieve in life. Grace Choksi, played by Rupali Redd and the daughter of Penn’s character Simon, has an unwavering faith in Santa and loves all things Christmas. The essence of Noel, Santa’s right hand elf, is played by Devin Bright. Noel believes he is Santa’s closest friend.

The role of Sandra Calvin, Scott and Carol Calvin’s youngest daughter, is played by Elizabeth Allen-Dick, who is Allen’s real-life daughter. Isolation from other people at the North Pole has given Sandra a unique connection to local wildlife and a keen awareness of appropriate and inappropriate behavior. It is interesting to note that this is Allen-Very Dick’s first acting job.

Santas: More information

Allen will be working on The Santa Clauses with his Last Man Standing co-creator Jack Burditt. Burditt will serve in the roles of executive producer and showrunner. Tim Allen also serves as executive producer on the film, alongside Kevin Hench (Last Man Standing), Richard Baker (1994’s Santa Claus) and Rick Messina (2002’s Santa Clause 2, Jungle 2 Jungle). The show was written, directed and executive produced by Jason Winer (Modern Family, Single Parents), who served in the same capacities on Disney’s 20th television.

A television adaptation of the 1994 film Santa Clause is scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus in 2022.

The original film The Santa Clause was a smash hit when it was released in 1994 and has since become a popular Christmas tradition on television networks around the world. Tim Allen plays Scott Calvin, a divorced father who is desperate to get his son Charlie to believe in Santa throughout the film.

One night, Scott accidentally kills Santa, and the next day he dresses in Santa’s red outfit, just like the letter Santa left told him to. But he must realize that he is now obliged to fulfill Santa’s obligations and distribute the gifts to children worldwide. Santa Clause paved the way for the production of two sequel films: Santa Clause 2 and Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.

The Santa Clauses: Trailer

Tim Allen is expected to reprise his role as Santa Clause in the reveal teaser for the upcoming film The Santa Clauses; However, it seems Allen has no intention of continuing in the same capacity he has held for the past few decades. This is because the teaser reveals the shocking news that Scott Calvin has decided to step down from his role as Santa, causing his devoted elves to fall into a state of utter and utter terror at the toy factory. We also get a glimpse of Santa Claus conducting interviews with potential candidates for the role of Santa Claus. One of those candidates is none other than famed NFL quarterback Peyton Manning. The teaser ends with a short snippet of action, which also gives a foretaste of the long-awaited return of David Krumholtz’ character Bernard.

Additionally, four exclusive clips from the film were shown to audiences at the D23 panel on The Santa Clauses. We’ve covered the clips extensively recently, but to recap, the clips include a conversation between Scott and his wife Carol (Elizabeth Mitchell), Santa going through the naughty and nice list, an introduction to the character by Simon Choksi ( Kal Penn) and his daughter Grace (Rupali Redd) and Scott strikes up a hearty conversation with his children Cal (Austin Kane) and Sandra (Sandra Oh). Santa goes down the naughty and nice list (Elizabeth Allen-Dick).
