Shinichi Chiba who is better known internationally as Sonny Chiba was a Japanese actor and martial artist. He was one of the initial persons who gained stardom due to his martial art skills in the world. It this so saddening that the great actor left the world in sorrow on 19 August 2021 fighting pneumonia. The 82-year aged Chiba, treatment starts from home, further increment in complications in health he was shifted to hospital on August 8, 2021, but after few days his health is not recovering and we lost him. In his long run career, he did many dozens of work in the entertainment industry from film, television shows to the theatre also. He got fame from the film series “The Street Fighter” (1974), Kill Bill: vol. 1 (2003), and True Romance (2003).
He started his career in 1960, with the Toei film studio, and with them, he did more than 125 films. It was the CEO of Toei who given first the stage name to him as “Shinichi Chiba”. He began with the television superhero show “ tokusatsu”.

Sonny Chiba was born Sadaho Maeda on 22 January 1939 in Fukuoka, Japan. At the age of four, with his family he shifted to Kimitsu, Chiba Prefecture as his father’s job was transferred to Kisarazu, Chiba.
Chiba attended the junior high school of Kimitsu where he got passionate about sports like baseball, volleyball, and track and field sports. His school physical education teacher told him to join and learn artistic gymnastics. During high school time, when Chiba was in his third year he took participated in championships and won the National Sports Festival of Japan.
Later, in 1957 he enrolls in the Nippon Sport Science University. He wanted to win the Olympic medal but unfortunately due to his back injury in her late teens, he has taken a sideline. After that, he trained in martial arts by Kyokushin Karate master Masutatsu “Mas” Oyama.
Chiba hard earns his first-degree black belt on 15 October 1965, later the fourth degree on 20 January 1984.

Sonny Chiba’s father was a pilot for the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service and his mother was from Kumamoto Prefecture and she was also interested in sports in her youth, competes in track and field. Sonny was on number third in five siblings.

Chiba did two marriages in her life. His first wife named was Yōko Nogiwa (1967 – 1994), she was also an actress and with her, Chiba has a daughter named Juri Manase, who is also an actress.
His second wife named is Tamami Chiba (1995 – 2015), the couple together has two sons; Mackenyu Arata and Gordon, who are also actors.
