Reid Ryan, the eldest of Nolan Ryan’s children, serves as a Major League Baseball trustee

One of Nolan Ryan’s three sons, Ried, was a baseball pitcher who was one of the greatest pitchers of his era and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.

Ried threw 84 innings for the Class A Short Season Hudson Valley Renegades in 1994 and had a 5-5 record, 2.89 ERA, 1.30 walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP), and 84 innings pitched.

He played for both the Class A Advanced Visalia Oaks and Class A Charleston RiverDogs in 1995, splitting time between the two clubs, compiling a combined 0-10 record, 9.34 ERA, and 2.29 WHIP.

After retiring, he returned to his family business and worked with his father and younger brother Reese as president and CEO of Ryan-Sanders Baseball, Inc.

He also began working as a baseball executive. On May 16, 2013, the Houston Astros, a major league baseball team, named him president.

The club won the World Series in 2017 and the American League pennant in 2019 during his time there. However, he served as an executive producer for the film Facing Nolan.

The Houston Astros sign theft incident, which came to light after the 2019 World Series, resulted in Reid Ryan being demoted from the organization.

Ruth Holdorff is the wife of Nolan Ryan. They were best friends since high school and married on June 25, 1967.

Ryan first met Ruth when they were both students at Alvin High School. In 2022, they recently celebrated 55 years of marriage.
