A realistic AI-generated photo of Katy Perry at the 2024 Met Gala has gone viral, even though the pop star missed the year’s biggest event.

Fake photo of the “Roar” singer. distributed over X, showing her on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing a light beige embroidered gown with flowers and moss trim, in keeping with the theme “Sleeping Beauties: Awakening Fashion.”

Her long black locks reached down to her waist like stylized light waves with a center part.

The stunning synthetic photo also showed Perry, 39, wearing minimal makeup and bright red lips.

More than 9.6 million people viewed the Snap and 56,000 people retweeted it.

While fans believed the “Firework” singer was making a statement at the event, most failed to notice that the rug in the photo matched the cream and red pattern of the 2018 Met Gala and not the cream and green rug from this year.

“I can’t let everyone fall for this, it’s not even the same carpet,” one person commented under the photo.

Even though the photo was fake, several people agreed that Perry’s changed look was their favorite of the night.

“My favorite [look] so far,” wrote a fan.

“She understood. Wonderful,” the second one chimed in.

“This is AI but it would definitely be one of the best looks if it were real,” another added.
