Aaron Carter was “obsessed” with Brother Nick, says his friend
Aaron Carter was unhealthily “obsessed” with his older brother, Nick Carter, and “cried” for his love for years, a friend of the tragic star said.
Gary Madatyan – a longtime friend of the singer “I’m All About You” – claimed that Aaron talked a lot about repairing his relationship with the Backstreet Boys singer, until his untimely death in the bathtub at his house on Saturday.
Madatyan further argued that Aaron’s mental illness greatly strained the singer’s relationship with his family and fiancée, Melanie Martin. Still, he wanted to make amends for the people he had hurt.
“I wish he could have done a little more as a relative of Aaron,” Madatyan said about Nick. – I’m not judging him. I’m not saying anything bad because I respect him. He is a talented artist. I love him, but Aaron was obsessed with his brother.
He added: “Mentally ill people think differently. He… pushed, prodded to get attention. Aaron did things he should never have done to his brother, but we’re talking about mental health. He called for help. “
Despite their separated relationship, Aaron’s representative said the siblings were “in the right place” until November 5 was found at his home in Lancaster, California.
“In many ways, he admired Nick. They tried to make things all right again, “said the singer’s representative on Monday.
Madatyan went on to say that in the last few months he had gotten concerned when “new faces” began to appear in Aaron’s life.
He said the singer was working on new music and set himself the goal of improving his life so that he could regain custody of his 11-month-old son, Prince.
“It just breaks my heart that no one was there,” said Madatyan. “Various people pulled him out and took advantage of his addiction and mental illness… They used his name for publicity.

Madian said his friend was also worried about his finances. Damon Feldman, CEO of Celebrity Boxing, claimed to have spoken to Aaron about the possibility of entering the ring to fight actor Andy Dick.

Madatyan and Martin were allowed to pass through the home of a pop star in Lancaster after court officials and a Los Angeles County coroner took Aaron’s body for examination.
Madatyan claimed that there were no drugs or anything suspicious during the examination of the entire house, “except for the water in the bathtub … it was strange yellowish water.”
TMZ reported that aerosol cans had been found in the house, but Madathian claimed he had not seen them.
Madian said his best friend for 12 years he had a lot of plans and he wasn’t talking about self-harm.
“Aaron loved life and would never have committed suicide,” said Madatian.
Aaron, 34, has been very open about his drug addiction and struggle with mental health. In 2019, the singer appeared on the talk show “The Doctors” and confessed that he was taking drugs for anxiety, manic depression and multiple personality disorders.
That same year, his twin sister, Angel, and Nick banned Aaron from approaching him.
Midian said that the order to stay away from the family deeply hurt the singer.
“He would say [Nick] he doesn’t want me to be successful… he hates me, ”said Madatyan. “I said,” I don’t think so. Maybe you should try it and talk to him. He wanted to fix this relationship, but it can be said that he was really lonely.
He continued: “He’s already confessed to abusing drugs, admitted to having mental health problems, but no one came to just hold his hand. I’m not here to judge anyone, but if my brother were mentally ill I would never forbid him. It was really painful for him. Mental illness is not a choice. “
Madatyan claimed that he repeatedly tried to persuade him to return to Los Angeles so that he could help manage his life, but that there were “other influences” around him.
“I always hugged him and said, ‘You are not alone, Aaron,’ he insisted. “But sometimes that wasn’t enough. I’m not mad at his family, but you know how much he loved [Nick]. When a relative puts in an effort, it means more than any friend around him.
“I want people to know… never give up on someone who is struggling with a mental health problem because there will come a time when it may be too late. I don’t want anyone to wish they could have done something when they didn’t. It’s the worst feeling you can ever have.
Nick’s representative did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
